STYLE UPDATE

Hey all,

I rewashed (cowashed) my hair yesterday only after 4 days to see if any of my curls came back yet, and I'm sad to report they DIDN'T..... :-(
I tried a different way to set my hair. I used the Cantu Shea butter leave in conditioning repair cream and braided 9 big individual braids (not cornrows) and rolled the ends with rollers and let it air dry. Don't really like the results... A little dry looking and too tight for me....

(Again, quality of picture looks horrible)

10 TIPS TO HEALTHY HAIR

HELLO ALL,

Here is a quick list of tips that I came up with to help you achieve healthy/healthier hair. I'm quite sure you've heard of some of these tips at one point or another. These came right to me first due to trial an error. It never hurts to refresh our brains so here's a refresher:

1. DETANGLING- DETANGLE YOUR HAIR FROM ROOTS TO ENDS IN SMALL SECTIONS.    THIS CUTS DOWN ON BREAKAGE/DAMAGE

2. AVOID HAIR PRODUCTS WITH ALCOHOL...ALCOHOL DRIES OUT YOUR HAIR

3. TREAT YOUR ENDS WITH EXTRA CARE, THEY ARE THE OLDEST PART OF YOUR HAIR SO THEY REQUIRES SPECIAL ATTENTION

4. AVOID ALOT OF PULLING AND TUGGING...THIS CUTS DOWN ON RETAINING LENGTH

5.  USE A COTTON T SHIRT TO DRY HAIR INSTEAD OF A TOWEL. A TOWEL DRIES HAIR TOO MUCH

6. COMB YOUR HAIR IN DIFFERENT DIRECTIONS (FRONT TOWARDS FACE, SIDES DOWN TO THE SIDE, BACK TOWARDS NECK, MIDDLE UP TOWARDS CEILING THEN LAY IN THE DIRECTION YOU WANT)...COMBING HAIR ALL BACK EVENTUALLY CAUSES EDGES TO THIN

7. SLEEP WITH SOMETHING TO PROTECT YOUR HAIR...(SCARF, BONNET, SATIN PILLOW CASE)

8. AVOID HEAT AND MANIPULATION AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE...YOU ARE FLIRTING WITH DEATH IF YOU ARE TRYING TO RETAIN LENGTH AND HEALTHY HAIR

9. CONDITION, CONDITION, CONDITION!!!

10.  EXPERIMENT...LEARN YOUR HAIR AND FIND OUT WHAT WORKS FOR YOU

PLEASE FEEL FREE TO SHARE YOUR TIPS WITH  US....

HENNA UPDATE AND PRODUCT REVIEW

Hey all,
So do you want the good or bad news first? LOL

Ok, here's the bad. So, I gave myself a henna treatment for the 4th or 5th time yesterday. Now prior to purchasing henna I'd read up on henna via websites and blogs that one of the effects it has is that henna will loosen your curl. Well yesterday did it for me! After letting the henna sit in my hair overnight, I washed my hair out and noticed I barely had any curls left. I was upset to say the least.......Now I did notice a looser pattern the 3rd or 4th time after treating my hair but it was nothing to talk about. I've literally lost about 70% of my curls. I'm not sure what's in this stuff but I'm staying away for a while. I've been giving myself henna treatments about every 2-3 weeks now. Although I am satisfied with how soft, heavy, and healthy my hair feels, I'm so not with the side effect of loosening my curls to this extreme. My hair looks like I put a texturizer in it....Ugh! So, based on my experience, if you don't want this to happen to you I would either:
A) Not treat as often and/or
B) Only leave in for a few hours

Now on to the good....My new found conditioner....TRADER JOE'S HAS DONE IT AGAIN!!!!! This conditioner is the bomb for many reasons:
1) It's all natural
2) It has a nice slip (the consistency)
3) It detangles my hair
4) It smells good
5) It's $2.99
6) It's 2.99
7)It's $2.99 :-)
Enriched with Organic Botanicals. Balanced Hair Remoisturizer Ideal for Replenishing Dry, Brittle Hair. Adds Moisture and Manageability. Cruelty Free (Never Tested on Animals) - No Animal Products in Ingredients. Does Not Contain Harmful Laurel/Laureth Sulfates, Found in Most Personal Care Product Shampoos, Gels, Conditioners and Body Washes.

Where are you getting all of that for $2.99

The pics I'm posting are the results of my henna treatment  and the conditioner. I set my hair with coconut oil and a little Isoplus lock and twist creme for natural hair....(They are on the dark side but hopefully you can still see it.)

AFROS

Definitions of afro:

1.
n., pl., -ros.
A rounded, thick, tightly curled hair style.
A hair style characterized by a tightly curled locks and a rounded shape
any large hair style.
–adjective
1.
of or pertaining to Afro-Americans or to black traditions, culture, etc.: Afro societies; Afro hair styles.
–noun
2.
a hair style originating with black persons, in which the hair is allowed to grow naturally and to acquire a bushy appearance.

Afros have been around for decades. Back in the day, afros came with instructions. It seemed like you had to do so much to get them perfect. Depending on your hair type, some would have to pick them out and stand in the shower so the steam can 'form' it...some can simply just pick them into place....others had to braid the hair first to set it then unbraided and comb...the list goes on and one...The biggest thing that stood out that I heard my family talk about was THE BIGGER THE BETTER. If you had the biggest afro, you were the man (or girl)
The thing I love about the modern day afros  is there are NO instructions....It is what it is...It does not have to be perfect....You can wake up, shake your head and go....wash and go, untwist and go, finger comb and go, ect....It seems like the objective is for you hair to look a mess. The messier the better....Actually, picking/ combing/manipulating the hair messes the look up, which is the complete opposite from back in the day. It doesn't matter how big or small, afros are on fire right now.

THE BANDING METHOD

Just wanted to do a quick post on the 'banding' method.
If your hair is natural you have definitely experienced hair shrinkage when washing or wearing natural styles. The tighter your curl is, the more shrinkage you'll hair, the looser your curl/wave, the less shrinkage you'll have.  My hair for example is between a 4a/4b (although I do not follow this chart). The difference in my hair length when wet vs dried and straightened is about 6 inches....big difference.
Instead of manipulating your hair all the time by blow drying and/or straightening, here is a method you can try to obtain some length and cut down on shrinkage....Banding.

Complete the following steps for banding:
- shampoo & conditon hair (or cowash)
- apply your choice of leave in conditioner
- section hair off into 2 sections (4 if your hair is thick or short)
- apply mositurizer of your choice from root to ends
- section off a section of the section you're working on first
- smooth the section out as best as you can and apply and ouchless ponytail holder to the root of your hair ** DO NOT USE REGULAR RUBBERBANDS ON YOUR HAIR**
- continue applying the ponytail holders down to the ends of you hair
(if your hair is thick, you may want to do smaller sections. If you hair is short, you may want to also do smaller sections. Use your judgement)
- Repeat last 2 steps until your whole head is done
- air dry  and style

This method is simply stretching your hair while wet....Just another way to cut down on heat and to keep hair a little healthier.  It can also be done on dry hair as well. Enjoy.

HEALTH TIP- ACID REFLUX DIET SOLUTIONS

That fiery sensation in the chest known as heartburn or acid reflux is often associated with eating foods like chili or an order of loaded nachos. But while certain foods can be the culprit, other diet and lifestyle habits may play a larger role, says Dr. Lauren B. Gerson, associate professor of gastroenterology and medicine at Stanford University Medical Center.

In fact, making the right changes could mean an improvement in symptoms within a week, says Gerson. That's especially good news for the 10 percent of Americans Gerson says experience heartburn on a daily or weekly basis (this chronic heartburn is often referred to as GERD or gastroesophageal reflux) as well as the 40 percent who experience it once a month.
So get ready to put out the fire -- here are the diet and lifestyle habits researchers believe may help ease heartburn and acid reflux.
Remember: if symptoms don't improve, or if you have trouble sleeping because of acid reflux or experience trouble swallowing, chest or stomach pains, nausea and vomiting, see your doctor right away.

What to do:

Eat an early dinner
"When you're lying down, many of the normal defenses against acid like gravity and peristalsis (the muscle contractions necessary to digest food) are compromised," says Gerson. That means if you go to bed with a full stomach, you're putting your body in a position where heartburn is more likely to occur. Eating dinner three to four hours before hitting the hay, says Gerson, should give food enough time to digest and empty out of your stomach first. When you do have to eat late at night, choosing foods that are low in fat may help curb heartburn.

Don't overeat
Bigger isn't better when it comes to acid reflux and GERD sufferers. Essentially, the larger the meal, the more food that gets left in the stomach to possibly come up the other direction, says Gerson. Instead, trim portion sizes and eat four or five small meals throughout the day, rather than over-doing it with large portions two or three times a day.

Avoid weight gain
Studies have shown that the more weight someone gains, the more likely they are to have reflux. Even if you gain weight, but remain in the normal weight range, you're at an increased risk for reflux, says Gerson.

Being overweight, however, also works against reflux and GERD. "The main cause of reflux is that the lower esophageal sphincter muscle relaxes and stomach acid rises up," says Gerson. "Being overweight causes it to relax more. It's partially because of hormones that are released when you're overweight and partially because of increased abdominal pressure."

Sleep with the head of your bed elevated
More than half of patients with chronic GERD report nighttime symptoms, says Gerson. Research has found sleeping with your head and chest higher than your feet decreases the amount and duration of reflux episodes, she says. Try placing six- to twelve-inch blocks under the bedposts at the head of your bed, or sleeping on a wedge to raise your upper body.

What to avoid:

Eating foods high in fat
Fatty foods tend to stay in the stomach longer, which delays emptying and increases your chances of reflux, Gerson says. If you're also eating a large quantity -- say, a burger and a large order of cheese fries -- you could be setting yourself up for even more discomfort.

Smoking
Nicotine has been associated with weakening the lower esophageal sphincter and contributing to GERD, says Gerson. However, she says, there's not strong research to show an improvement in symptoms after quitting. Even so, there are a number of advantages to your health if you quit.

Spicy foods, citrus fruits and juices, chocolate, wine, coffee, caffeine and carbonated beverages
The jury is still out on these foods and drinks. "There is some evidence that these can relax the sphincter muscle," she says. "But there's still not strong evidence that cutting them out of the diet causes symptoms to improve."

Her advice? "I don't believe in total deprivation." If you get heartburn after drinking red wine, go easy on the red wine; if you love chocolate, try eating a small amount, like half a chocolate bar, and see how your tolerate it, she says. The food triggers for heartburn are completely different from patient to patient, she says. "Most patients are not bothered by all of these things, but have one or two that bother them."

By Stephanie Tweito Jacob

Now, while all f these tips makes sense, I'm all about doing things naturally. So, one tip that I've been told (I haven't tried it yet b/c I rarely experience acid reflux) is boiling a sliced white potato and drinking the juice from it once it cools off a little. It's worth a try! Until next time, stay healthy!

INTERVIEW WITH SHAKERA

SO, I KNOW YOUR HAIR IS NOT NATURAL, BUT YOU WORE WEAVES FOR YEARS. WHAT MADE YOU REVERT BACK TO WEARING YOUR OWN HAIR?
I wore sew-in weaves for 10yrs straight and my main reason was my hair was growing very thin because it was not getting the treatment it needed to grow healthy. While having your hair braided up all the time does make your hair grow but, it also damages the ends which causes hair breakage. You have to allow your hair to breathe for a certain amount of time and receive hair treatments. I wanted my hair to be as healthy and thick as it was before I started wearing weaves.

DO YOU NOTICE A DIFFERENCE IN YOUR HAIR NOW PRIOR TO WHEN YOU WERE WEARING THE SEW-IN WEAVES? IF SO , WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE?
There is a big difference. My hair has its original thick texture and no breakage. When I was getting my hair braided up in weaves I would leave some of hair out in the front and some in the back. Plus I would just perm that part of my hair which let me have two different textures and my hair was at two different lengths. The constant relaxing of just certain parts eventually broke off the front of my hair. My hair would grow very thin because of the constant damage. Now my hair is stronger and grows all at one length.

WOULD YOU SAY YOU DAMAGED YOUR HAIR AFTER WEARING WEAVES A LONG PERIOD OF TIME?
Yes but the main reason was I wasn’t taking care of my hair in between each weave. I should have taken at least 3-month breaks in between weaves to get my hair treated with conditioning, trims, and hot oil treatments. I truly recommend that if you get weaves you should only keep it in for 1-month tops.
Your hair does break off when you constantly braid it up.

WHAT WAS THE MAIN REASON YOUR WORE WEAVES?
There were several reasons now that I think about it. First it gives you that length you always want when you can’t grow it yourself and I was lead to believe that if you wore sew-in weaves your hair would grow because you are “giving your real hair a break” that is such a lie. Now that I know what I know now I wish I never would have put weaves in my hair. Your hair will grow if you treat it well.

WHAT DO YOU DO WHEN YOU'RE HAVING A BAD HAIR DAY?
Well I have a short cut now so when I have a bad day I can either wear a hat or simply spike my hair up with spritz and have the messy short cut look works every time.

HOW OFTEN DO YOU RELAX YOUR HAIR?
I relax my hair every 4 weeks. My hair is short now so I have to make sure the back of it is lying flat so I make sure my perms are done in a timely fashion.

DO YOU THINK YOU WILL EVER GROW YOUR HAIR OUT NATURAL?
I am not sure. I always said I would never go without a perm. I do agree perm does do a lot of wear and tear on your hair but I believe if you use them moderately you should be ok. I think if I get a very low cut I can go natural but I will do that later down the road.

DO YOU WORK OUT? IF SO, HOW DOES IT EFFECT YOUR HAIR?
Yes I do work out and I usually tie my hair up when I do and it usually doesn’t sweat at all. I put spritz on it prior to working out so everything stays in place.

DO YOU HAVE A SIGNATURE HAIR STYLE?
Yes my signature style is my side part in the front and short all the way around. I like my eye slightly covered to give a little style.

WHAT DO YOU LOVE ABOUT YOUR HAIR THE MOST?
My hair is the healthiest it’s been in years. I love its texture now. My hair grows nicely and is manageable. I didn’t think my hair would ever recover from the damage I did to it but fortunately it did.

ARE THERE ANY SPECIAL PRODUCTS/HAIR TOOLS THAT YOU JUST CAN'T LIVE WITHOUT?
My Mizani hair sheen is wonderful. I don’t like heavy oil sheen on my hair so Mizani gives my hair that clean finish that doesn’t weigh my hair down.

WHICH IS MORE IMPORTANT TO YOU, HOW YOUR HAIR LOOKS OR THE HEALTH OF YOUR HAIR?
I would definitely say the health of my hair is more important. I do not want to be 50 yrs old with 2 strands left on my head lol.

2001

2004

2008

2009

Regardless if you're relaxed or natural, what's most important is that your hair is healthy. I really believe that it's not always about the products you use on your hair but what you put in your body. Your hair is like a plant...you have to water it to grow. With that being said, drink plenty of water, exercise, and take care of yourself PERIOD!

EVOO AND CAYENNE PEPPER

HI LADIES I FOUND THIS OVER THE WEEKEND AND I PLAN TO TRY IT WHEN I TAKE MY MICROS OUT...ENJOY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This recipe is simple, easy to make, and most importantly, it WORKS! Here it is:

* 4 to 5oz EVOO (Extra Virgin Olive Oil)
* 2 tablespoons Cayenne Pepper

Add both ingredients to a squirt bottle (one with a nozzle) and shake before use. Apply and massage into scalp the night before washing your hair.

Stimulates growth like you wouldn’t believe. Please NOTE, the cayenne pepper will REALLY make your scalp tingle so don’t be alarmed b/c that’s what it is supposed to do! Also, take caution when rinsing this mixture out of your hair. If it gets into your eyes, it WILL sting. I simply close my eyes when rinsing it out and open them once it’s all rinsed completely out of my hair. Unless you're that good, I guarantee you will forget this your first try at this and it will get in your eyes and it will sting. LOL. But you will learn quickly!

As with any hair growth stimulants, CONSISTENCY is the key and the only way you will receive results. Don't expect to see results right away. You should start to see results in about 4 weeks if you use it CONSISTENTLY, some see results sooner than that. Give it a try and after 4 weeks share your results! Or if you use this now or used to, share your comments! Stay blessed and beautiful.

HEALTH TIPS ON CINNAMON AND HONEY

Cinnamon and Honey

Honey is the only food on the planet that will not spoil or rot. It will do what some call turning to sugar. In reality honey is always honey. However, when left in a cool dark place for a long time it will do what I rather call "crystallizing".   When this happens I loosen the lid, boil some water, and sit the honey container in the hot water, turn off the heat and let it liquefy. It is then as good as it ever was. Never boil honey or put it in a microwave. To do so will kill the enzymes in the honey.Cinnamon and Honey
Bet the drug companies won't like this one getting around.  Facts on Honey and Cinnamon:  It is found that a mixture of honey and Cinnamon cures most diseases. Honey is produced in most of the countries of the world. Scientists of today also accept honey as a 'Ram Ban' (very effective) medicine for all kinds of diseases.  Honey can be used without any side effects for any kind of diseases.

Today's science says that even though honey is sweet, if taken in the right dosage as a medicine, it does not harm diabetic patients.   Weekly World News, a magazine in
Canada , in its issue dated 17 January,1995 has given the following list of diseases that can be cured by honey and cinnamon as researched by western scientists:

HEART DISEASES: Make a paste of honey and cinnamon powder, apply on bread, instead of jelly and jam, and eat it regularly for breakfast. It reduces the cholesterol in the arteries and saves the patient from heart attack.  Also, those who have already had an attack, if they do this process daily, they are kept miles away from the next attack. Regular use of the above process relieves loss of breath and strengthens the heart beat.  In America and Canada, various nursing homes have treated patients successfully and have found that as you age, the arteries and veins lose their flexibility and get clogged; honey and cinnamon revitalize the arteries and veins.

ARTHRITIS: Arthritis patients may take daily, morning and night, one cup of hot water with two spoons of honey and one small teaspoon of cinnamon powder. If taken regularly even chronic arthritis can be cured. In a recent research conducted at the Copenhagen University, it was found that when the doctors treated their patients with a mixture of one tablespoon Honey and half teaspoon Cinnamon powder before breakfast, they found that within a week, out of the 200 people so treated, practically 73 patients were totally relieved of pain, and within a month, mostly all the patients who could not walk or move around because of arthritis started walking without pain.BLADDER INFECTIONS: Take two tablespoons of cinnamon powder and one teaspoon of honey in a glass of lukewarm water and drink it. It destroys the germs in the bladder.CHOLESTEROL: Two tablespoons of honey and three teaspoons of Cinnamon Powder mixed in 16 ounces of tea water, given to a cholesterol patient, was found to reduce the level of cholesterol in the blood by 10 percent within two hours.   As mentioned for arthritic patients, if taken three times a day, any chronic cholesterol is cured. According to information received in the said Journal, pure honey taken with food daily relieves complaints of cholesterol.COLDS: Those suffering from common or severe colds should take one tablespoon lukewarm honey with 1/4 spoon cinnamon powder daily for three days. This process will cure most chronic cough, cold, and clear the sinuses.UPSET STOMACH: Honey taken with cinnamon powder cures stomach ache and also clears stomach ulcers from the root.GAS:
According to the studies done in
India and Japan, it is revealed that if Honey is taken with cinnamon powder the stomach is relieved of gas.IMMUNE SYSTEM: Daily use of honey and cinnamon powder strengthens the immune system and protects the body from bacteria and viral attacks. Scientists have found that honey has various vitamins and iron in large amounts. Constant use of Honey strengthens the white blood corpuscles to fight bacterial and viral diseases.INDIGESTION: Cinnamon powder sprinkled on two tablespoons of honey taken before food relieves acidity and digests the heaviest of meals.INFLUENZA:
A scientist in Spain has proved that honey contains a natural ' Ingredient' which kills the influenza germs and saves the patient from flu.
LONGEVITY:
Tea made with honey and cinnamon powder, when taken regularly, arrests the ravages of old age. Take four spoons of honey, one spoon of cinnamon powder, and three cups of water and boil to make like tea. Drink 1/4 cup, three to four times a day. It keeps the skin fresh and soft and arrests old age. Life spans also increase and even a 100 year old, starts performing the chores of a 20-year-old.
PIMPLES:
Three tablespoons of honey and one teaspoon of cinnamon powder paste. Apply this paste on the pimples before sleeping and wash it next morning with warm water. If done daily for two weeks, it removes pimples from the root.
SKIN INFECTIONS: Applying honey and cinnamon powder in equal parts on the affected parts cures eczema, ringworm and all types of skin infections.WEIGHT LOSS:
Daily in the morning one half hour before breakfast on an empty stomach, and at night before sleeping, drink honey and cinnamon powder boiled in one cup of water. If taken regularly, it reduces the weight of even the most obese person. Also, drinking this mixture regularly does not allow the fat to accumulate in the body even though the person may eat a high calorie diet.
CANCER: Recent research in Japan and Australia has revealed that advanced cancer of the stomach and bones have been cured successfully. Patients suffering from these kinds of cancer should daily take one tablespoon of honey with one teaspoon of cinnamon powder for one month three times a day.FATIGUE:
Recent studies have shown that the sugar content of honey is more helpful rather than being detrimental to the strength of the body. Senior citizens, who take honey and cinnamon powder in equal parts, are more alert and flexible. Dr. Milton, who has done research, says that a half tablespoon of honey taken in a glass of water and sprinkled with cinnamon powder, taken daily after brushing and in the afternoon at about 3:00 P.M. when the vitality of the body starts to decrease, increases the vitality of the body within a week.
BAD BREATH:
People of South America, first thing in the morning, gargle with one teaspoon of honey and cinnamon powder mixed in hot water, so their breath stays fresh throughout the day.
HEARING LOSS: Daily morning and night honey and cinnamon powder, taken in equal parts restores hearing. Remember when we were kids? We had toast with real butter and cinnamon sprinkled on it!You might want to share this information with a friend, kinfolks and loved ones. Everyone needs healthy help information ~ what they do with it is up to them ~ share with your email buddies!!!!!

WHO INVENTED THE STRAIGHTENING COMB?

Born: Sarah Breedlove
1867-1919
Madam Walker was an entrepreneur who built her empire developing hair products and the straightening comb for black women. She claims to have built her company on an actual dream where a large black man appeared to her and gave her a formula for curing baldness. When confronted with the idea that she was trying to conform black women's hair to that of whites, she stressed that her products were simply an attempt to help black women take proper care of their hair and promote its growth.

With  decades and decades of improvements,  the hair industry is now at an all time high. Women spend so much time and money on hair, with BLACK women being the biggest consumers. A lot of the products damage our hair and some being very healthy for our hair...either way, good or bad, expensive or inexpensive, we'll try it.
There are so  many options out there now from braids, to weaves, to wigs, to ponytails, to perms, that is so exciting to see that so many of us are reverting back to 'our roots', being natural. It's almost like the same feeling I had when Barack Obama became president lol. . In my eyes it's a wonderful thing that we are converting back and embracing our own natural hair. The hair industry is a billion dollar industry, and as I mentioned black women are the biggest percentage of the consumers, yet 'they' (other races) won't let us in the business side of the industry.
Perms aren't moving off the shelves as fast as they were I'd say ummmm 5 years ago so now the hair care companies had to think how to stay relevant. They see that black women (again, the biggest percentage of consumers) are going natural. Well guess what? We need products for our natural hair. These companies are now coming out with a line for natural hair. I would've never thought I'd see Pantene with a line for women of color, or a natural hair care line from Isoplus....and there are more to come, trust me.
No one knows our hair better than us...There are small independent  black owned companies with there own natural hair products. We should patronize these smaller companies more rather than always supporting bigger and well known names......

RAPPER METHOD MAN'S TAKE ON NATURAL HAIR

When recently asked in an interview if he liked women with natural hair, Method Man responded:

"No. I don't like peasy afros, sorry. I don't like dreads either. I like a woman to get her hair did."

My thoughts: First of all, to each is own...However, I feel like this comment was very ignorant coming from a man of color. So Method Man, are  you saying that a woman that has natural hair doesn't get her hair done? Or, because it's kinky/curly/wavy (anything but straight) it doesn't look like it's done? There has been plenty of times I saw your hair 'wolfin'... So in your eyes it's cool for you to walk around with a peasy afro but not women? Again, your preference is your preference, as I have my own, but the ladder part of your comment you could have kept to yourself. BTW, where have you been??? -__-

COMBS

There are many types of combs out there on the market. Although I will not list all of them, I'll list the basic ones we see and use on a daily basis.  Although you may say to yourself  "Why do I need more than one comb? A comb is a comb, all I need is one", this is so not true.  These combs are made differently for a reason.

TYPES OF COMBS

  • Wide tooth combs: This is generally used for detangling.

  •  Rat tail combs or fine tooth tail comb: This type of comb is mainly for styling and parting hair.

  • Picks comb: This type of comb is used for  lifting the hair away from the head, it is also used to add volume.

  • Regular styling combs: This type is used for styling and smoothing.

  • Fine and wide tooth comb (regular comb): This type of comb is divided in two parts and one part have a close and the other a wide tooth. This type of comb is used regularly.

  • Teasing combs: This type of comb is used in teasing hair.

Combs Tips
  • Always rinse comb with hot water after each use.
  • Don’t use a close teeth comb on wet hair to avoid breakages, instead use a wide tooth comb.
  • Use combs with smooth ends not sharp and/or broken teeth to avoid hurting your scalp.
  • Buy strong, sturdy combs not weak ones...even if it costs more it's worth it.
  • All combs style differently so use the perfect comb for your style.
